BRIEF: Create a simple business card that captured the personality of the client while maintaining a professional persona. There was a specific request for a style of illustration.
PROCESS: I began with the illustration: a fist holding a pencil. This indicated a passion for both social justice and writing. The black and white colour palette was also chosen to fit the client. The layout came together quite easily; I am especially happy with the all-over pattern on the back of the card. The most difficult part of creating this design was choosing a typeface for the client's name. I provided several samples of typefaces for the client, none of which satisfied her vision. She wanted something relaxed but not too relaxed. Ultimately, I chose to hand-write the name in a
semi-script, and the client felt suited the overall design.
