Create a large scale botanical mural.
I began by sketching several types of leaves and plants before arranging the ones I liked most on a sketch of the wall that I was working on. I began testing colours with pencil crayons before heading to a hardware shop to colour-match with those swatches. I created a second sketch of my design using a scaled grid of the wall - I then created a grid with string on the wall so I could apply my design using a pencil, square by square. This part of the process was the most difficult, because it involved both copying from my initial layout, as well as using my intuition in the moment to realize when certain design elements did not work as well on a larger scale. The next step was the painting process, which again included adjusting from my initial sketches to create more interesting patterns. I worked consistently over the course of a few weeks to complete this mural.
