During my time as a Multimedia Designer at Earth Rangers, I was the primary designer for the 2024 Annual report. With guidance from my Creative Director, I crafted this report that had the dual goals of communicating the year's accomplishments as well as highlighting the growth and decades-long legacy of the organization.
2024 Annual Report
PROCESS
My primary goal for this report was to create something that felt distinct and unique, both among past reports for this organization, but among non-profit annual reports as a whole. The brand identity of Earth Rangers allows for a sense of playfulness that I was excited to bring to this document, even more so than in previous years that I had been the lead designer for this project. I began with research into annual reports that had been published in the past year from other non-profits and adjacent organizations, as well as a review of last year’s Earth Rangers annual report. I was then able to compare the inspiration sparked from that research with elements of the new visual style the organization was incorporating, and determine a direction I wanted to move forward with. Due to the retrospective nature of the report, I was also eager to draw inspiration from the deep archive of photos, documents, and branding of Earth Rangers past.
This project was created using both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
Collages were used to condense visual storytelling in a way that remained playful and dynamic.
A sticker motif was created to mark a recurring milestone on the timeline in an immediately recognizable way.
Tape textures were used at varying scale throughout to highlight section headers and serve as unique call-out boxes.
An editorial-style timeline was used throughout the report to highlight major accomplishments and fun facts throughout the history of the organization. The addition of this element was one of the larger design challenges of this project. The content of the report had to be carefully balanced so that pages containing the timeline didn’t feel overstuffed with copy. Ultimately, it appears distinct on the page but matches the style of the greater report.
