This invitation suite was commissioned for the wedding of Indian sports power-couple, Olympic bronze medal field hockey player Gurjant Singh and tennis player Karman Thandi.
WEDDING INVITATION
PERSONAL CLIENT
I had almost full creative freedom from the client in nearly all the elements of this project. I began with the custom illustration of the couple that would be on the first page of the invite, and then drew further inspiration from each of their birth flowers which I incorporated into the border surrounding this hero illustration. Each wedding event needed its own page, and I used a border inspired by traditional Indian marble and tile work to create a repeating motif that would tie each page together. I used the cover illustration as the inspiration for the colours used throughout this suite. This project also required me to strike a balance between legible text hierarchy and traditional wedding ceremony text layouts that would be familiar for the clients and their guests.
Created using Procreate and Adobe Photoshop.
PROCESS
design highlights
A monogram insignia was created with elements from the cover page, and was used on the envelope for each invitation.
I drew unique spot illustrations that anchored each event’s individual page.
The text used for the title of each event was hand drawn.
A Save The Date graphic was also commissioned for this project.
I used historical patent illustrations for the couple’s respective sporting instrument (field hockey stick and tennis racquet), as well as their birth flowers to create a custom personalized repeating background.
